Blog Editing

 Hey!!

I’m back with more fun and exciting information and I have many new editing techniques that I can use for my film opening.

My friend who is in the same class as me taught me that I can use iMovie to begin to put together clips together first and then to transport it to adobe! I think it is a great tip and that is what I will be doing for mine

With the editing technique i learned from the color filter, I will be adding that layer on top creating a look that seems like a digital camera and like it is a old teen film.

I am planning on filming specifically during sunset as well as sunrise so I won’t have to put too much time into the coloring. It will then be natural and also make it seem much more realistic, and it will be relatable for the viewers and attract them into it, making it entertaining and have a burst of serotonin from something that could happen.

I am a big fan of summer and ocean so I want to make the main idea revolving just around that, and this idea does it perfectly. Even the plot has to do with the ocean. so it is all set and I have easy access to such things and the editing will add that extra touch needed to create nise en scene!

That’s all for today guys!

Blog Dialouge

Hey blog! I am going to show you all what I have ready for the script order and how I have it all ready and even in the process of the dialogue. ( whichever I decide to go with).

Here is how I will be making it in the order of.

*Music*

Introductory to the location

Saying what the event is

Explaining how life is at that time

Title

Intro to each character

Brief description of each of them

Describing whats wrong

Beginning the plot

Final point of plot

This is the order of how I will do it in, but I still need to work on the filming days, as I have them scheduled and I will build the dialogue soon enough!

The way it is ordered is very important because if wrong, it could get the story mixed up and get complicated for those seeing it to process whats going on.

CCR

Hey guys!

I want to give you some more updates for what I have planned for my CCR.

Since we were shown the examples from last class, I decided I was going to start planning when I have to prepare for my CCR proofs and to film for them.

I want to have a specific date and time for this process so everything comes out fine and I wont have to worry about forgetting anything and missing specific necessary evidence from the film opening to then add into the CCR.

I think it would work very great and end up being a successful CCR with extra proofs.

I made some changes with my film opening regarding how I will be putting it together. I chose different days to go to the beach when the weather is good and sunny so therefore I will have a perfect setting and It will fit the vibe perfectly.

I will keep going back and adding in different clips and getting many different videos and options to then find the perfect fit and use the necessary, I plan on  using the excess to include in the CCR as well and it will be all like a excess clip that will show many more of my movements and techniques that i learned throughout the year.

Changes to production

Hey blog!!! Im back with more fun and entertaining updates regarding my film opening!

I have contacted all of my cast which will be my friends who I have close connections to and they are up for the challenge on helping me make this film opening be the best it can be and in the most fun and informational way possible.

I want to make a few changes on how I will be starting the film, since I took it into deeper thinking and I think it would all make much more sense with a collage of clips showing the atmosphere to start off, as soon as it introduces the first scene I have it planned to kick off with almost a "trailer" vibe to it. And I want viewers to know what they are in for and to be left with cliffhangers to keep them intrigued.

I also had the idea to mention someone that it lost or so thought, of course in the film, not really. And that creates a much deeper and meaningful plot making it connect to real world situations that some may relate to and find emotional connection to it. Some people may get a different perspective of what they may be going through and that can truly help and allow the mind to elaborate and assume what will happen.

I think making a significant starting scene is special and also should be built towards,

For example in this picture you see the cast all together bonding in front of the tree.

Earlier in the film I would have shot the same angle and picture at the same location, but without the cast.

I feel this makes it a lot more meaningful and it tells a story as it goes playing and can also make viewers infer on what they think it is trying to tell. Because every shot has a purpose and it all build it up over all.

I had some help understanding why cliffhangers are used and how it can be used in the film. This is a LINK to the video watched and it explains what I was looking for and it all needs to add up and build the suspense very easily.

Anyways, I hope this helped and I hope you guys can start getting an idea of what I am hooking on towards and trying to achieve and why.

Till the next one!

 Hey blog!

In class today I learned about my CCR and I wanted to share with you guys.

Basically we first started off with watching a few other film clips of CCR's and we discussed what was good and bad about them. I think that I got a good idea as to what had to be done and how the questions asked would have to be responded.

Some tips that I received where that it should not always be about a talking head and to add images and proof pictures to it as well. It is supposed to be under 10 minutes long and keep using camera movements to keep the viewer entertained!

I got some ideas as to what can be done in my CCR and I would want to take proof and evidence during my film opening and creating process to add into it.

As well as add photo comparison and representation that speaks for itself.

I also took many notes on how to answer such questions and be able to speak clearly and say what is necessary in it. Blurting words and adding unnecessary things is not needed and can get deducted from it making your CCR to be much longer than what it needs to be, and that affects the score being received.

I also was taught to do a technique with multiple inserts from different angles to keep the viewer entertained and not get bored.

Showing off those media skills will end up benefiting you and I learned this from my past assignments. It is necessary to show everything you know.

Anyways, I hope this helped and can be used if needed!

Till the next one.

Film Location

Hey! Im back with more super entertaining news and updates with my film!

I decided that I am going to film in different locations, I will be going to the pier at the beach and am attempting to go to a beach apartment to film more eventful scenes there.

I really want to capture the exact imagery that I am going for and this will be the perfect location. The beach and the summer events will add to it and make it much more adventurous for the viewers to be intrigued to watch.

I have planned out for the cast to be running down a pier and creating a sense of triggering fear that something is going to happen within that running period.

The music also comes into play at this specific part.

I have been speaking with my friends to be able to plan this out and make it possible and I have high hopes for it,

Next blog post I will update you guys on how the film will go step by step!

Updates / Changes

Hey guys! Im back and I wanted to mention that I have been looking at different methods of filming old style and aesthetic ways and I will show you how I have been researching that!

To start, I was looking back to the film opening on outer banks season 1 and I noticed there is a lot of shaky and hand held camera movements that I really enjoyed and added to the vibe.

I am going for a fun exciting chaotic looking color palette and those shots and movements definitely add to the adventurous vibe to it.

For example this image shows the characters in action.

You can see the overlap of the color palette used to create those tones and summer looking vibes.

It sets a nice layout as to what the film will then later on be and developed into.

This is a LINK to show how I will be doing my camera movements and how it is going to work.

This LINK also shows what I have been reading in order to make those filters come out the way I intend to.

Group meeting post

In class today we did a group meeting so our class could share what ideas are in mind and to elaborate on what can be done to help each other develop an even better project and fix any errors. I told my classmates about the blog posts and story boarding and how I plan on filming my project. This is a LINK to how I envision a dock scene.

I mentioned how I will have a cast of my friends and I plan on making it start off with montages and fun adventurous scenes. Then it goes onto the introductory of characters and developing the plot and getting to know them on a more personal level.

The feedback will help a lot because I had the idea to go film in a broken down dock for a more worn down look and vibe in Naples. Or if I decide to shoot on a more fancy side my classmates gave me recommendations of where to go since they have gone multiple times. They mentioned how they felt like it was a perfect spot for what I had described to them.

I want the dock scene to look something like the picture above, it looks very nice and is well placed for the theme of the film

It can also help me by establishing mise en scene elements because I get to target more of that character and the vibe they give off as well as their dressing style.

I also got the idea that I should do flashbacks to a certain point where two of the characters in the past had some sort of tension in the present and that can create conflict and add character to the film.

I think that the group meeting was truly necessary and it really opened up my eyes to help me see clearly how I can make this film happen and also it was good to give my classmates my feedback and see what they can create from that.

Production Progress

My production is near the few final stages of progress regarding the planning. I almost have a set idea on the introductory I want to complete, as well as the scenes I want and how I want it to look like.

How would I start it?

For the first few seconds I want it to be a beach scene with cars going by. Hinting some sort of runaway or fast paced scene which has to do with adrenaline. The following scene would be a close up on the main character, just introduction and getting to know the character. So the viewers will have an idea of who the person is and why are they important.

I will want there to be some sort of fun action happening like a group of friends being in a bad situation or some sort of ruckus so that it is the climax of the opening film. And from then on I plan on finding copy right free music and playing it while the group is happy and exited that they avoided the situation.

When will the characters be presented?

After that climax of events is when I will introduce the title of my film and then introduce the other people in the group. So it will be a beginning to their personality and unique style.

I plan on researching even more on editing to make the title look professional and well placed. This is a LINK for a tutorial I saw and will use for when I make the title.

Another aspect I think I need to also work on is how I will be going to film specific parts of it that are a much more complicated shot. For example a long shot of a certain location and etc.

Other than that I will continue seeing what can be done and I will update you guys on what else I have thought of!

Until next time!!

Reflecting / Title

I'm back! So I have been reflecting a bit and watching many film openings to try and identify what will be going on and to apply that to mine.

One that caught my eye is The Summer I turned Pretty. LINK I like how all of the vibes and themes are developed and I really got to know more in debt of the characters and what is going on and who the main character is. (Belly) The star of the show has the most screen time which I plan to incorporate into my film as well.

For my title I was also inspired by The Summer I turned pretty.

Since I plan on filming as a beachy and adventurous summer movie, I also want to incorporate the ocean into it. Not only because I like it but also because I intend to have deeper meaning to why the ocean is important in my film.

I want to do something related to a shipwreck or a loss at sea mystery to lead the viewers on to "wanting to watch more of it" to see what will happen. I think it is a good way to catch their attention and it also has significance and is not only there just for the looks.

I also found an old film I used to like when I was younger called Mako mermaids. I remembered how they incorporated the ocean and tail in the title because it also has deeper meaning later on in the film.

Although as cringe as it is, LINK the film opening included lots of hints as to what will go on later on and build suspense and lead the viewers to guess what can possibly go wrong.

I will intend on including some key events in the opening and I think it reflects on the characters as well in the personality shown when I introduce them in scenes. The 3 actors that appear above the title are the main characters and they end up being best friends. Which was hinted from the beginning.

Final Day!

Today is my last and final day of the blog and it has been such a long journey. I wanted to thank you all for being there with me exploring ...
